Hints for the laundry soap! I’m just listening and I heard what you’ve done with the soap. I’ve been making laundry soap for almost a decade, so I thought I’d throw a few hints your way.

First, not *baking* soda, but *washing* soda. It is also made by Arm and Hammer and comes in a yellow box which looks very similar to the orange baking soda box. You definitely want the washing soda.

Second, any soap should be fine. I use fels naptha. Also, I’ve used pure lye soap and I’ve combined the two on occasion.

Finally, you really need a large open-top container to hold the soap. I use a 5-gallon bucket which had drywall mud in it once. You can buy “contractor buckets” at Home Depot. Get a 2 or 5 gallon one. You need to be able to get in and stir the soap. You won’t be able to do that in a milk container or commercial soap container. You might also invest in a 1/2 cup ladle to dish out the soap.

My soap always settles like you described when it cools. It just needs to be stirred around and the gel stuff on the top broken up with the ladle. And I usually give the whole thing a stir whenever I use it.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Hi,

Thanks for playing my feedback. Just to be clear, I have my educational doctorate in instructional technology.

    Keep up the great work.

    Jim
