Our fire is in the church (at the sanctuary steps). It is made with cotton-wool balls soaked in metho and lemon essence (so it smells nice). The lighting of the congregations candles is done by pyromaniacs (oops… I meant to say altar servers).
We ring the bells for the Gloria at this mass (as well as Thursday night) and the altar servers ALL have bells. The congregation is encouraged to BYO (bring your own) bells and ring them. Last year Father told them all that he expected them to turn up “with bells on”…..
